1. Devine Guarantee. Promise Of Allah

The sentiment expressed in the Holy Quran in several verses, most notably in ==Surah Taha (20:132) and Surah Al-Isra (17:31)==, where Allah emphasizes that He is the ultimate provider of sustenance (rizq). 

Divine Guarantee: It is a fundamental belief that Allah has guaranteed the provision for all creatures on earth, as mentioned in Surah Hud (11:6): “And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision…”

Allah swt provides comfort and peace of mind, encouraging believers to focus on their faith and righteous deeds, while trusting that Allah swt will take care of all their worldly needs.

“Order your people to pray, and pray steadfastly yourself. We are not asking you to provide; We provide for you, and the rewards of the Hereafter belong to the devout.” Surah Taha (20:132)

“And do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We provide for them and for you. Indeed, their killing is ever a great sin.” Surah Al-Isra (17:31)

“…and do not kill your children out of poverty; We will provide for you and them…” Surah Al-An’am (6:151)

The Islamic Concept of Sustenance (Rizq)

In Islam, sustenance is a core concept related to the belief that all provisions originate from Allah, who is known as Ar-Razzaq (The Provider). Key points include: 

  • Divine Guarantee: It is a fundamental belief that Allah has guaranteed the provision for all creatures on earth, as mentioned in Surah Hud (11:6): “And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision…”
  • Effort is Required: The divine guarantee does not negate the requirement for humans to strive and work hard to seek their livelihood through lawful (halal) means. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Tie your camel first, then put your trust in Allah,” highlighting the balance between effort and reliance on God.
  • Beyond Material Wealth: Rizq encompasses more than just money or food; it includes health, knowledge, family, peace of mind, and faith.
